I have to change something. I've put jinxes on almost every player I've mentioned and the pinnacle of it was I killed a horse. Something is up, and I don't know what's going on. I'm gonna switch up the format. From now on, I will have a pitcher of the week, a hitter of the week, one player who is playing poorly, and one guy who you need to keep an eye on. Maybe this way, people won't either suck or die. Let's give this a go.
Hitter of the Week
Lance Berkman-13/22, 9 runs scored, 2 HRs, 9 RBIs, 2 steals, .591 average, 1.670 OPS
He finishes a series versus Washington, then goes to LA and San Fran. Maybe he'll face Zito.
Pitcher of the Week
Sidney Ponson-No it's not 2003. But Ponson, a Ranger this year, put together two great starts last week pitching 15 innings, giving up 13 hits, 2 earned runs, 3 walks, and 7 strike outs and most importantly 2 wins. He has given up 3 earned runs in 3 starts this year.
Sucking It Up
Troy Glaus-In the past 7 days, he's gone 1-18 with 0 RBIs. He has 1 HR in 118 at bats this season and is hitting .229 on the season. So much for the guy who was gonna protect Albert.
Diamond in the Rough
Blake DeWitt-9/19 last week, 6 runs, 2 HRs, 11 RBIs, .474 average, 1.419 OPS. So far on this season, he's hitting .317 but he's heating up and is playing everyday right now.
That's it for me. Summer is here on Saturday for me, so I'll try and keep up with the posting weekly. And hopefully no one I mentioned today will break their shins.
Stat of the Week
There are two catchers in the top 100 hitters on Yahoo! fantasy. They are Geovany Soto (31st) and Ryan Doumit (94th). There are only 3 catchers between 100-200 also. They are Russell Martin (108), Brian McCann (111), and Joe Mauer (184). Slim pickens for catchers so far this year.
Peace homes.
